KARACHI: The 35-day ‘World Culture Festival Karachi’ is set to commence on September 26, with participation from artists representing 40 countries, according to President of the Arts Council Karachi, Mohammad Ahmad Shah. At a press conference held at the Husina Moin Hall, Ahmad Shah, along with renowned intellectual and comedian Anwar Maqsood, actor and theater director Khalid Ahmed, Professor Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi, and Qudsia Akbar, detailed the upcoming festival.

Ahmad Shah announced that the festival, organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, will run until October 30, 2024. Over 34 countries, including Palestine, Turkey, India, the UAE, the USA, the UK, Germany, Australia, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Italy, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Norway, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Ukraine, Oman, Qatar, Zimbabwe, Azerbaijan, France, Uganda, Belarus, Ireland, Kosovo, Burundi, Congo, and Rwanda, will participate. The festival will feature more than 100 cultural performances with over 350 artists. It will showcase theater, music, dance groups, and fine arts from both Pakistani and international performers.

Ahmad Shah highlighted that while previous events like the Youth Festival, Pakistan Theater Festival, Music Festival, and Dance Festival were held, this year’s festival, titled ‘World Culture Festival Karachi,’ is the largest in Pakistan’s history. Initially intended as a theater festival, the event evolved to include a broader range of performances due to significant international interest from music and dance artists.
