Doctors and students protest paper leak and alleged mismanagement of the exam

KARACHI: Doctors and students have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), raising concerns over the early release of the exam paper. They are considering legal action and organizing protests to contest the situation. Dr. Mehboob Noorani, Chairman of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Sindh, has taken a firm stance against the alleged controversy surrounding the MDCAT paper. The association’s legal affairs are being managed by High Court lawyer Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, who has issued a legal notice to the University of Health Sciences (DUHS), the Sindh Chief Minister, and the Chief Secretary.
The notice calls for the establishment of an investigation committee to address the issues related to the paper leak. The leaked paper, which went viral on social media the night before the exam, reportedly contained approximately 75% of the actual exam questions. This incident has become a recurring issue, with the paper being prematurely released every year on the eve of the exam. Despite prior reports to the management, no action has been taken to resolve the issue.
The MDCAT, conducted by DUHS, was further complicated by mismanagement, resulting in long queues and chaotic scenes at examination centers, causing inconvenience to candidates and their families. In response to the allegations regarding the paper leak, the DUHS administration has maintained that there was no official release of the exam paper. They characterized the viral document as merely a “guess paper.”
