
KARACHI: Pakistani athlete Zainuddin Tareen made the nation proud by securing a gold medal in the under-18 age category at the 4th Asia IKD Karate Championship. The event, held in Isfahan, Iran, saw Tareen’s exceptional performance as he triumphed over strong opponents from various countries. Tareen’s journey to the gold began with a victory over Tajikistan in the quarter-finals, followed by a win against Iraq in the semi-finals. In the final match, he showcased remarkable skill and determination, defeating Iran to claim the championship title.
The tournament featured participation from 11 Asian countries, including Pakistan, Iraq, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Oman, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, Indonesia, and the host nation, Iran. With around 80 international, Asian, and national referees overseeing the competition, the event concluded on a high note for Pakistan. The national karate team, led by IKD Pakistan President Jalaluddin Tareen, performed admirably, with Zainuddin Tareen’s victory standing out as a significant achievement for the country in the international sporting arena.
