ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Indonesia during a meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, Chandra W. Sukotjo, in Islamabad today.
Speaking at the meeting, Malik highlighted the significant potential of Pakistan’s mineral and exploration sector, noting that Indonesian companies could play a key role by partnering with local exploration and mineral firms. He said that such collaborations could unlock opportunities for sustainable growth in both countries, while fostering stronger economic ties.
Ambassador Sukotjo welcomed the discussion, expressing Indonesia’s keen interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan in the mineral sector. He highlighted the possibilities for joint ventures, particularly in oil and gas exploration, pointing to opportunities involving Indonesia’s state-owned company, Pertamina. The ambassador suggested that collaboration in these sectors could bring mutual benefits, enhance technological exchange, and strengthen long-term economic partnerships.
Both officials agreed that enhanced cooperation in minerals and energy could serve as a cornerstone for broader economic and strategic engagement between Pakistan and Indonesia. They underscored the importance of leveraging private sector expertise alongside government support to drive exploration, investment, and sustainable development.
The meeting reflected a shared vision for closer collaboration, with Pakistan positioning itself as an attractive partner for Indonesian investment in the energy and mineral sectors. Both sides expressed optimism that such partnerships would contribute to economic growth, regional connectivity, and strengthened bilateral relations in the years ahead.
