SUKKUR: The death of 15-year-old student Adnan Channa at a madrasa in Khohra, Khairpur, has sparked widespread outrage, with allegations of foul play and an FIR filed against several influential clerics.
The madrasa administration initially claimed that Adnan had committed suicide by hanging, but his father, Waheed Channa, rejected this account, alleging that his son had been murdered. He filed an FIR at Police Station Khohra naming Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi, custodian of the shrine of Makhdoom Abdul Rahman (Shaheed) Khohra, Maulvi Abdul Hafeez Khohro, Toufiq Chachar, Qalandar Bakhsh Memon, and two unknown suspects under sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The incident prompted IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho to order SSP Khairpur to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a report within 24 hours. SHO Khuhra, Ameer Ali Chang, confirmed that two suspects, Maulvi Hafeez Khohro and Toufiq Chachar, have been arrested and are being interrogated.
Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death and are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining accused. The case has generated significant concern within the community, with residents calling for a fair and transparent investigation to ensure justice for Adnan Channa and his grieving family.
