SUKKUR: The District Returning Officer for Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan visited several polling stations on 17 May 2026 in connection with local government by-elections on two seats.
During the visit, he inspected the voting process and reviewed polling camps established around polling stations in accordance with the rules of the Election Commission of Pakistan Election Commission of Pakistan.
He received detailed briefings from presiding officers and polling staff regarding arrangements, voting procedures and other related matters. He directed officials to ensure smooth conduct of polling throughout the day and instructed them to immediately contact the assistant returning officer in case of any untoward situation.
He said the district administration, the Election Commission of Pakistan and local institutions were committed to ensuring a transparent, impartial and peaceful electoral process under all circumstances.
Voting was underway for the vice chairman seat in UC Nasirabad and the general councillor seat in UC Nandapur in Sukkur.
The deputy commissioner and district returning officer also reviewed polling arrangements for the general councillor ward in UC Nandapur, Taluka Pano Aqil, where he visited three polling stations and inspected facilities and arrangements.
He said the district administration would make every effort to ensure effective conduct of local government elections and that all legal requirements would be strictly implemented.
During the visit, he also spoke to voters and gathered feedback on the polling process and staff performance, while other officials were also present.
