    Press Release

KARACHI: The appointment of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Asim Munir as Chief of Defence Forces would further strengthen the country’s defence, said Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor on Saturday.

Congratulating Field Marshal Asim Munir on his new role, he said that under his leadership, national defence, unity, and cohesion would be further enhanced. He added that the institutional role in safeguarding the country and promoting development would also be reinforced. “Our brave armed forces are our pride, and they have made national security impregnable,” he said.

Altaf Shakoor stressed that the time had come to set the country on a path of progress and prosperity. He said that under the leadership of Field Marshal Munir, anti-state elements, particularly those operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan with foreign support, would be comprehensively defeated. He emphasized the importance of national unity and the need to advance key projects, including the construction of new dams and canals, which he said were essential to protect the country from famines and floods.

He also highlighted the significance of an independent judiciary as the cornerstone of sovereignty and a vital check on various institutions. He expressed concern over recent attempts to undermine judicial independence and hoped that the leadership would take notice and act accordingly.

On the occasion, PDP General Secretary Iqbal Hashmi, Vice Chairmen Azam Minhas, Rafique Khaskheli, Khalil Ahmad Thind, Abdul Hakim Quaid, Tariq Chandiwala, and others also extended their congratulations to Field Marshal General Asim Munir.
