KARACHI: Police in Samanabad engaged in a gunfight with armed street criminals near Gujjar Nala, Block 18, close to Siddiq Akbar Mosque, officials said. The encounter occurred when police on patrol signaled a group of suspicious motorcyclists to stop, but the suspects opened fire. Officers returned fire in self-defence.
One suspect, identified as Abrar, son of Kaleem Ahmed, was injured and arrested, while his accomplice, Qadeer alias Sudheer, son of Qasim, escaped under the cover of darkness. Police are conducting raids to apprehend the fugitive.
Illegal weapons, ammunition, and spent cartridges were recovered from the arrested suspect, along with a 125cc motorcycle (registration KMZ-7737), previously reported stolen under case number 129/2025 at Model Colony police station, under Section 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The injured suspect was immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment. Legal proceedings are underway, and police are compiling the criminal record of the arrested individual.
