SUKKUR: Police in Khairpur have arrested an alleged drug supplier and seized a large consignment of liquor during an operation near Sathio Wah, officials said on Saturday.
According to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Khairpur, Dr Samiullah Soomro, the station house officer (SHO) of Baberloi police station, along with his team, stopped a car during a blockade and recovered 216 bottles of liquor during a search of the vehicle.
The suspect, identified as Tasawur Shah, was arrested at the scene. Police said he was transporting the liquor from Rohri in Sukkur district to Pir Jo Goth.
An FIR (No 197/2025) has been registered against the accused under sections 3 and 4 at Baberloi police station, police said.
Dr Soomro said the operation had foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs and announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for the police team involved, praising their performance in the crackdown against illegal trafficking.
