SUKKUR: Addressing the 78th Dastar-e-Fazilat Conference at Manzil Ghah Masjid in Sukkur, Maulana Fazlur Rehman highlighted the centrality of knowledge in Islam while criticizing Muslim rulers for allegedly sidelining madrasas and adopting Western ideologies over Islamic Sharia.

Rehman asserted that religious schools serve as the fortresses of Islam, imparting knowledge, piety, and character development, and warned that Sharia should not be treated as a threat. He also referenced former US President Donald Trump, interpreting his anti-Muslim rhetoric as opposition to Sharia, and stated that Muslims do not share that hatred.

Maulana Rehman emphasized that knowledge distinguishes humans from animals and underlined the human faculties of intelligence and speech as divine blessings meant to acquire and disseminate knowledge.

The JUI-F leader expressed concerns over the constitution, alleging that several provisions remain unimplemented and that colonial-era influences persist. He criticized the government’s handling of the Sharia Court, claiming it lacks resources and that its decisions are being undermined.

Rehman also warned that JUI-F will not tolerate wrongdoing and remains committed to standing firm on its principles, emphasizing that the party is not seeking to appease anyone but to uphold accountability.

The conference also featured remarks from JUI-F leaders, including Central Secretary General and MNA Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Sindh Ameer Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halejvi, and Allama Rashid Mahmood Soomro, who described the event as a milestone for religious education and extended congratulations to the graduating scholars. During the ceremony, 54 Aalims, 20 Muftis, 6 Hafizs, and 10 female Hafizians were honoured with Dastars, marking their scholarly achievements.
