SUKKUR: A joint ceremony marking Christmas and the 149th birth anniversary of Pakistan’s Founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA), was held in Sukkur on Wednesday, showcasing interfaith harmony and national unity.

Organised by Sukkur Municipal Corporation under the leadership of PPP Information Secretary for Sukkur Division Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh, the event took place at Sukkur Gymkhana and was attended by representatives of various communities, elected officials, and local citizens.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sheikh highlighted the significance of 25 December as a day celebrating both the birth of Jesus Christ (PBUH) and Quaid-e-Azam. He emphasised that the occasion underscores equality, religious freedom, and constitutional rights, noting that the Sindh government and Pakistan Peoples Party remain committed to ensuring equal respect and protection for all citizens.
Sheikh said such events in multicultural cities like Sukkur strengthen interfaith understanding, social cohesion, and national solidarity. The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting, prayers for Pakistan’s peace, progress, and prosperity, and praise from participants for promoting the inclusive vision of Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan.
