DHAKA: Bangladesh police have identified Faisal Karim Masud as the central suspect in the killing of student leader Osman Hadi, following preliminary investigations that uncovered “solid evidence,” authorities said.
According to a police statement, Masud has been named as the shooter, while Alamgir Sheikh has been named as an accomplice. A court has cancelled Masud’s passport and barred him from leaving the country, instructing border security and all airports to prevent any illegal exit.
The police said Masud has not yet been apprehended, but investigation teams are working around the clock to capture him. Authorities have also detained two individuals suspected of attempting to help Masud flee to India; they remain in five-day judicial remand for further questioning. Investigators are exploring possible links to cross-border human smuggling networks.
