SUKKUR: Facility resumes operations after years of inactivity following repairs backed by hospital management and local donors.
An oxygen generation plant at Sukkur Civil Hospital has been restored to operation after remaining non-functional for several years, following repairs carried out through the joint efforts of the Sukkur commissioner, hospital administration and philanthropic supporters.
According to a statement issued by the Sindh information department, the facility was made operational through coordinated action by the Sukkur division commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi, the medical superintendent of Civil Hospital Sukkur Dr Ahmed Mujtaba Memon, and the principal of Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College, Prof Dr Saleh Muhammad Channa.
The medical superintendent thanked the commissioner for playing a key role in reviving the plant and for securing support from donors to complete the necessary work. In his message, the commissioner said that sincere efforts to serve the public often attract cooperation not only from the government but also from the wider community.
Hospital officials said the restored oxygen generation plant would significantly support patient treatment while also reducing expenditure on oxygen supplies. Prof Dr Saleh Muhammad Channa said the institution remained confident it would overcome existing challenges with faith and determination.
Dr Ahmed Mujtaba Memon said further improvements were planned, adding that repair work on the hospital mortuary’s cold chain system would begin soon.
