KARACHI: Sindh chief minister’s aide says her legacy lives on through public service, democratic continuity and people-centered politics.
Abdul Jabbar Khan, special assistant to the chief minister of Sindh for relief, has paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto on the eighteenth anniversary of her death, describing her as a shared national asset and a shining symbol of democratic struggle whose legacy continues to guide public service and politics in Pakistan.
In a message issued on the anniversary, Khan said Benazir Bhutto was not only the pride of the Pakistan Peoples Party but the true embodiment of the people-oriented philosophy of the Bhutto family. He said she translated the vision of her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and the aspirations of the people into practical politics through courage, sacrifice and fearless leadership.
He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had given the country its constitution, political awareness and the principle of the sovereignty of the people, while Benazir Bhutto kept that vision alive through resistance to dictatorship, democratic perseverance and selfless public service.
Khan said President Asif Ali Zardari had protected democracy from derailment in extremely difficult circumstances and ensured the continuity of the democratic system, calling it a historic and unforgettable achievement. He added that PPP chair Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was the true custodian of Benazir Bhutto’s ideological legacy and the Bhutto family’s people-centred politics, playing a dynamic role in mobilizing youth, farmers, workers and marginalized communities towards progress, equality and prosperity.
He said the Sindh government was implementing welfare, relief and development initiatives in line with the Bhutto family’s people-friendly philosophy, adding that the province’s relief machinery could be seen at the forefront during natural disasters and public hardships as practical proof that Benazir Bhutto’s mission of public service was alive.
Concluding his message, Khan said the PPP leadership had always prioritised reconciliation, democratic continuity and the public interest over personal politics, a political approach he said had kept the party alive in the hearts of the people. He reaffirmed the resolve to carry forward the party’s democratic and people-oriented mission under the ideology of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the sacrifices of Benazir Bhutto, the political wisdom of Asif Ali Zardari and the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
