QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has urged militants in the province to surrender, emphasising that the state remains fully capable of asserting its authority and upholding law and order.

Speaking at a public event, Bugti said that no objective could be achieved through violence, adding that the government’s doors were open for those willing to lay down their arms. “Our lives are tied to Pakistan. No purpose can be achieved through guns,” he stated, stressing that he would continue to stand against injustice and ensure that the families of martyrs are not left unsupported.

Bugti criticized armed movements claiming to fight for freedom, saying they had only brought destruction to the region. In a parallel development, he was formally elected the 8th chief of the Bugti tribe in a traditional ceremony held at his ancestral home in Dera Bugti. Tribal elders and local dignitaries attended the ceremonial turban-tying, a symbolic event marking his leadership within the community.

Addressing the gathering, Sarfaraz Bugti outlined his priorities, highlighting his commitment to serving the Bugti community, promoting justice, and fostering consensus among local stakeholders. He also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for backing the establishment of a Danish School in the region.

CM Bugti noted that all tenders had been completed and construction would soon commence, a project expected to provide children in Balochistan with access to higher-quality education. The initiative was presented as part of broader efforts to improve social services and educational infrastructure in the province, complementing government programs aimed at development and stability.
