DADU: Lady health workers in Dadu district staged a protest over alleged insulting remarks by Deputy Commissioner Syed Murtaza Shah and DSP Khairpur Nathan Shah during a recent polio vaccination campaign, warning of legal action if their concerns are not addressed.

Leading the protest, Noor Bano Malah released a detailed video statement outlining the challenges faced by the teams. She said that only four security personnel were assigned to 35 vaccination teams, leaving workers vulnerable in the field. The campaign coincided with two local murders during a fair and the annual Urs, further complicating safety conditions.

Noor Bano claimed that when these security concerns were raised with the Deputy Commissioner, they were dismissed as “baseless” and “drama.” She also alleged that the DSP suggested filing an FIR against a female polio worker for making “baseless claims,” which she described as highly insulting.

The protesting workers warned that if the District Administration and the District Health Officer fail to act, they will file a constitutional petition in the High Court. Noor Bano stressed that harassment in the field had already been an issue, and the officials’ alleged actions had escalated tensions.

Responding to the claims, Deputy Commissioner Syed Murtaza Shah rejected the allegations as unfounded, saying the matter arose from a misunderstanding over remarks made by a police officer. He added that the District Health Officer is taking steps to resolve the issue.
