DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The monthly meeting of the Dera Press Club for December 2025 was held at the club hall in Dera Ismail Khan under the chairmanship of its president, Muhammad Yasin Qureshi.

The meeting was attended by former president and senior journalist Ahmed Khan Kamrani, office-bearers and a large number of club members. Participants held detailed discussions on professional matters, challenges faced by journalists and future strategies. The press club cabinet also presented its annual performance report, which was appreciated by those present.

Addressing the meeting, Qureshi said the Dera Press Club was not merely an institution but a collective home for journalists, where members stood united like brothers. He said any journalist facing difficulties should approach the press club without hesitation, assuring full support from the organization.

He clarified that membership of the press club had never been closed, was not closed at present and would not be closed in the future. Every application, he said, was examined by the constitutional committee in line with the club’s rules, and membership was granted strictly on merit to those who met the required criteria. He reiterated that there would be no compromise on transparency, merit or the dignity of the institution.

The president also stressed the need for unity, harmony and mutual respect within the journalistic community, saying strong and dignified journalism was only possible when journalists rose above personal differences and worked together on a common platform. Such unity, he added, not only helped resolve journalists’ issues but also promoted responsible and positive journalism in society.

At the end of the meeting, Qureshi thanked Ahmed Khan Kamrani and all members for their cooperation and support. Special prayers were offered by senior member Abdul Shakoor Astrana and the press club’s general secretary, Iqbal Bhatti, for the speedy recovery of Mohsin Saleem Baloch and for peace and stability in the country. Participants reaffirmed their commitment that the Dera Press Club would continue to safeguard journalists’ rights, promote unity and harmony, and encourage positive journalism.
