KARACHI: IG Javed Alam Odho seeks report from additional IG Karachi, directs immediate engagement with traders and action against those issuing threats
The inspector general of police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, has taken strict notice of a press conference held by traders at the Karachi Press Club, according to a statement issued by the Sindh police public relations office.
In a directive issued on 5 January 2026, the IG Sindh sought complete details from the additional inspector general of police (AIG) Karachi regarding the concerns raised by the traders. He also instructed the AIG Karachi to establish immediate contact with representatives of the trading community.
Odho ordered that strict legal action be ensured against elements involved in issuing threats, stressing that such conduct would not be tolerated. He further directed that all complaints, apprehensions and allegations raised by the traders be thoroughly examined and that a comprehensive report be submitted to him at the earliest.
“The Sindh police stand with the trader community,” the IG said, adding that no injustice or misuse of authority against traders would be allowed under any circumstances. The statement was issued by Syed Saad Ali, spokesperson for the inspector general of police, Sindh.
