KARACHI: Police seize firearms, drugs, stolen devices in successful operation against armed criminals
Karachi: A gunfight erupted between police and armed suspects in the Model Colony area of Korangi after officers acted on a tip-off identifying the presence of four individuals involved in criminal activities.
According to police, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire upon spotting the police, turning the neighbourhood into a scene of chaos. In response, police returned fire, resulting in one suspect being injured while another was apprehended. Two other armed men managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
During the encounter, unregistered motorcycles were recovered from the site. Officers also seized 30 bore and 9mm pistols from the suspects, along with dozens of stolen mobile phones and tablets. Approximately 1,800 grams of hashish and cash were recovered during the operation.
Multiple cases have been registered against the arrested and injured suspects, including charges of interference in official duties, possession of illegal weapons, and violations under the Narcotics Act. Police have launched raids in several areas to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
