TANDO ALLAHYAR: Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Noor Mustafa Leghari, an important meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to discuss strategies for promoting child protection and interfaith harmony in the district.

The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner One, Prem Chand Meghwar, and attended by representatives from the Social Welfare Department, police, education, NADRA, other relevant departments, social organizations, and civil society members.

The session reviewed challenges faced by children and ongoing measures to prevent child labor, violence, and exploitation. ADC Prem Chand Meghwar emphasized that protecting children is a top priority for the state and that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.

On the topic of interfaith harmony, the ADC highlighted the critical role of religious leaders in fostering tolerance, brotherhood, and peace, noting that mutual respect and dialogue are essential for sustainable societal harmony. It was decided that awareness campaigns, seminars, and community-level programs would be organized to educate the public on child protection and religious tolerance.

The ADC directed relevant departments to ensure practical steps are taken through mutual cooperation. Additionally, a meeting of the District Human Rights Committee was convened under the chairmanship of ADC Prem Chand Meghwar. Officials from relevant departments, social organizations, and civil society members participated in discussions on the protection of human rights in Tando Allahyar, focusing on the rights of women, children, and minority communities, as well as issues including forced labor and domestic violence.

The ADC noted that the district committee was established under instructions from the Chief Secretary Sindh and would conduct visits to hospitals and jails to monitor human rights conditions. Departments were directed to ensure timely identification of violations, prompt redress of complaints, and provision of legal and social assistance to affected individuals.

The meeting also reviewed the committee’s previous actions and ongoing initiatives. At the conclusion, it was decided that awareness programs, training workshops, and community-level campaigns on human rights would be held to raise public understanding and foster a peaceful, equitable society.
