LAKKI MARWAT: A remote-controlled explosive device targeted a bus belonging to the Lakki Cement Factory on Begokhel Road near Nawarkhel Mor, resulting in one fatality and nine injuries, including two women.

Police reported that the bomb was detonated remotely, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. All victims were residents of Begokhel village. Upon receiving the alert, a strong police contingent rushed to the scene, while Rescue 1122 teams transported the injured to City Hospital, Lakki Marwat. Two critically wounded patients were later referred to Bannu Hospital for advanced care.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Kifayatullah confirmed that one of the injured succumbed to injuries, while two others remain in critical condition. Emergency arrangements were immediately enforced at the hospital to ensure prompt medical attention.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Sajjad Khan, visited the hospital following the blast, inquiring after the patients and reviewing the medical facilities. He directed all medical staff to provide the best possible care, warning that negligence would not be tolerated. Expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, the RPO assured that those responsible would face justice.

DIG Bannu Region, Sajjad Khan, emphasized that operations against terrorists will continue unabated, noting a recent shift in militant tactics targeting civilians after failed attacks on security forces. “Protection of citizens’ lives and property remains our top priority,” he stated.

Under the direction of DIG Sajjad Khan, District Police Officer Lakki Marwat, Nazir Khan, led an intensified search and strike operation involving Lakki Marwat Police, the CTD Bannu Region, and local peace committees. During the operation, police successfully killed the terrorist responsible for planting the bomb. One police officer was injured in the encounter, and operations against other militants in the area remain ongoing.
