DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Serious allegations of corruption have surfaced regarding the payment of arrears to police personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the recent upgradation of the KP Police.
According to police sources, funds for the upgradation arrears were transferred to the respective District Accounts Offices. However, when the payments were due, the auditor at the Dera Ismail Khan Accounts Office allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from each police official. Sources claim the release of arrears was made conditional upon payment of the bribe.
Affected officers have condemned the act as a blatant misuse of authority and a grave injustice to police personnel who have sacrificed greatly in the fight against terrorism.
A voice note reportedly circulated among police personnel appeals to the public, stating: “Have some sense of honor. You have given countless martyrs. Now, when your rightful dues are being paid, you are being asked to pay bribes for them.”
Police officials have urged the Governor, Chief Minister, and Inspector General of KP Police to take immediate action against the alleged misconduct and ensure that arrears are paid fully and lawfully, without any illegal demands.
