KHAIRPUR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khairpur organized a grand and vibrant public ceremony to mark the 98th birth anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The event was presided over by PPP Khairpur President and former National Assembly member Nawab Ali Wassan at Wassan House, Khairpur.
A large number of party leaders, office-bearers, activists, and supporters from all tehsils, union councils, town committees, municipal committees, and sub-wings of the party attended the gathering.
Addressing the participants, Nawab Ali Wassan said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not merely a personality but a symbol of an era, empowering Pakistan’s poor, laborers, farmers, and marginalized communities with awareness, confidence, and constitutional identity. He highlighted Bhutto’s role in framing the consensus 1973 Constitution, which continues to uphold federalism, democracy, and citizens’ rights.
Wassan praised Bhutto for securing the release of 90,000 Pakistani prisoners of war from India with dignity and for laying the foundations of Pakistan’s nuclear program, making the country the first Islamic nation and the seventh in the world to achieve nuclear capability. He added that Bhutto always envisioned a self-reliant, strong, and sovereign Pakistan, sacrificing his life for its realization.
He reaffirmed that the PPP remains committed to the ideals of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, continuing its struggle under Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to address the nation’s political, economic, and public challenges.
During the ceremony, a birthday cake was cut in honour of Bhutto, party supporters raised loud slogans in his memory, and pledged to carry forward his mission. Participants paid tribute to the leader’s services and prayed for the nation’s security, the preservation of democracy, public welfare, and the elevation of martyrs’ ranks.
