KARACHI: The first meeting of the task force formed on the directives of Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan was held under the chairmanship of DIG East Zone Dr Farrukh Ali. The purpose of the task force is to further improve the law and order situation in industrial areas and to provide complete security to factory owners.

The meeting was attended by the SSPs of Malir, East, and Korangi districts, the SSP SIU/CIA, the DSP Korangi, and the SHO of Korangi Industrial Area.

Office-bearers of the Korangi Industrial Area Association (KATI) also participated in the meeting, including KATI President Muhammad Akram Rajput and other senior officials of the association.

The association’s representatives briefed the DIG East Zone on the security challenges faced in the Korangi and Malir areas. They highlighted serious issues such as extortion, harassment of factory owners, and blackmailing to enforce illegal demands.

DIG East Zone Dr Farrukh Ali directed that police patrolling in industrial areas be made more effective, strict monitoring of suspicious elements be ensured, and immediate redressal of factory owners’ complaints be guaranteed. He made it clear that indiscriminate legal action would be taken against extortionists, blackmailers, and criminal elements.

The DIG East Zone further stated that the task force would take practical steps in the field, intelligence-based operations would be intensified, and the strictest legal action would be taken against those involved in these crimes without discrimination. He emphasized that no leniency would be shown to lawbreakers and that continuous coordination with industrialists would be maintained to deal promptly with any untoward incidents.

The DIG East Zone assured the association’s office-bearers that the police would remain in contact with them around the clock and that their security concerns would be addressed immediately on a priority basis.

DSP Korangi Khushnud Javed was appointed as the focal person of the committee.
