SUKKUR: The Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) hosted the 26th Progress Review and Strategic Planning meeting on Friday to evaluate the ongoing Sindh Government-funded initiatives aimed at supporting communities affected by the recent floods.

The meeting, held at the organization’s head office, brought together key officials and project teams to assess progress, identify challenges, and refine strategies for the coming months. Presiding over the session, SRSO CEO Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro commended the dedication and resilience of the staff involved in the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects.

The SRSO CEO highlighted the tangible outcomes achieved so far and urged the team to sustain their momentum. “I am pleased with the remarkable progress made in implementing the SPHF and WASH projects. Your commitment to delivering results is truly commendable,” Kalhoro said, encouraging staff to enhance performance and deepen collaboration in line with strategic objectives.

The meeting included senior representatives from across the organization, including the SFEHRP team leader, regional general managers, district managers, and the senior manager for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, alongside the core project teams. Discussions centered on accelerating construction, improving quality, and ensuring that the benefits of the projects reached the most vulnerable communities.

The SPHF project has already constructed more than 500,000 homes and currently has over 1.25 million dwellings under development, offering shelter to families displaced by catastrophic floods. Once complete, the initiative aims to deliver 2.1 million multi-hazard-resistant homes, potentially improving the lives of more than 15 million people across Sindh.

Meanwhile, the WASH program has enhanced access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene in 3,700 villages, reaching 314,000 households and safeguarding the health of an estimated 1.5 million residents. Officials expressed optimism that, with sustained commitment and effective coordination, both projects would continue to transform flood-affected communities and strengthen the province’s resilience against future disasters.
