DADU: Lady Health Workers staged a protest in Khairpur Nathan Shah on Tuesday, alleging harassment and insulting remarks by district officials during the last polio campaign and demanding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the matter.
The rally, led by Lady Health Workers Noor Bano Mallah and Mukhtiar Begum, began at Baloch Pump and ended at the Press Club in Khairpur Nathan Shah. Noor Bano Mallah accused the deputy commissioner of Dadu and the district health officer (DHO) of harassing Lady Health Workers and replacing them with male employees.
She alleged that after raising concerns over inadequate security during polio duty, she faced retaliatory action and was removed from her post as UCMO. Mallah said she had served for 32 years in the polio program with honesty and dedication, adding that her only “fault” was speaking out about safety issues faced by frontline workers.
