ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that after achieving economic stability, the government is now focusing on concrete measures to boost growth. He made the remarks in his opening statement while chairing a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad.

The prime minister said the government had signed a memorandum of understanding with a financial technology company to promote digital transactions. Under the agreement, digital infrastructure will be developed, and transactions will be carried out through data centres and cryptocurrency. He said this would significantly benefit Pakistan’s economy.

Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the armed forces and other stakeholders on the successful launch of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System by the Pakistan Air Force and the LY-80N missile system by the Pakistan Navy. Referring to the international recognition of Pakistani fighter jets during the Mark-e-Haq exercise, he said several countries were actively engaged in discussions to acquire the aircraft.

The prime minister commended the sacrifices of security forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue combating militancy until it is completely eliminated.

Highlighting development initiatives in Balochistan, Shehbaz Sharif said the Karachi-Chaman Road is being built at a cost of four hundred billion rupees. Work on the 850-kilometre project is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within a year with federal funding.

The prime minister said one hundred thousand laptops and scholarships are being provided to students in Balochistan to enable them to pursue higher education without financial constraints.
