DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police repelled a late-night terrorist attack on the Kheti police checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan, killing two terrorists after a fierce exchange of fire, officials said on Wednesday. One police constable was injured in the attack.
According to police, armed terrorists launched a sudden assault on the checkpost late at night. Under the leadership of DPO Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, police personnel responded swiftly and engaged the attackers. After an intense gun battle, two terrorists were neutralised, while constable Muhammad Tahmash sustained injuries.

Senior officers, including the DPO, SP Sadar and DSPs City and Saddar, visited the hospital to inquire after the injured constable. The DPO praised the courage and professionalism of the police personnel, saying the force had successfully foiled a cowardly attack and that morale remained high.
Later, RPO Dera Syed Ashfaq Anwar visited the Kheti checkpost and commended the officers and personnel for their bravery. He announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for those involved in the operation, saying the Dera police had always stood “like a wall of lead” against terrorism.

The RPO also visited the DHQ Teaching Hospital to check on the injured constable and directed doctors to ensure the best possible medical care.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi also lauded the police for thwarting the attack, describing the personnel at the checkpost as heroes who had won the nation’s admiration. He said the people of the province stood shoulder to shoulder with the police and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
