SWABI: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Secretary General of Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain-e-Pakistan, Asad Qaiser, strongly criticized the recent sentences awarded to Iman and Hadi, asserting that these verdicts reflect the practical collapse of the country’s justice system.
Addressing a gathering in Swabi, Asad Qaiser described the current political system as a “sham democracy,” claiming that justice is being openly undermined. He demanded that higher courts immediately take up the cases, warning that continued disregard for fair judicial proceedings would erode public trust in the courts and push the nation toward anarchy.
He also criticized the state of democracy in Pakistan, saying that the fundamental right to vote has been effectively taken away, and urged citizens to pledge on February 8 to reclaim their electoral rights. He called for fresh, free, and transparent elections under a truly neutral Election Commission.
Highlighting the country’s broader challenges, Asad Qaiser noted worsening economic conditions, rising unemployment, and insurgency issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. He emphasized that all state institutions must operate within constitutional limits, uphold the rule of law, and allow democracy to flourish. He stressed that judges must defend justice themselves, while the legal community should uphold the Constitution rather than engage in internal politics.
On foreign policy, he criticized Pakistan’s participation in the Gaza Peace Board, stating that neither Parliament nor the cabinet had been consulted. He called for independent foreign policy decisions, balanced relations with neighboring countries, and the proper involvement of legislative institutions in major international agreements.
