SUKKUR: A delegation from the US Consulate General Karachi, in collaboration with the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and the Education USA advising network, held a special information session at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, on Tuesday to guide students interested in higher education and exchange programs in the United States.
The visiting team included Belal Rizvi, Emerging Voices Specialist at the US Consulate; Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, program officer at USEFP; and Aamna Chandna, an Education USA adviser. They hosted an interactive session at the university’s Students Society Center, open to all students.
The session highlighted two main pathways for study in the US: detailed guidance on the Fulbright Scholarship Program, the US government’s flagship international exchange initiative, and practical advice for independent applications, covering standardized testing, university applications, and financial planning.
Earlier, the delegation met with senior university officials, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Wahid Bux Jatoi, deans and faculty members, to discuss mutual interests and explore potential academic collaborations between US institutions and SALU.
Education USA, supported by the US Department of State, provides students worldwide with accurate guidance on studying at accredited US institutions. University officials encouraged students to take advantage of such opportunities to learn more about undergraduate study in the United States.
Deans Professor Dr Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Professor Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Professor Dr Minhoon Khan Laghari, Professor Dr Liaquat Ali Chandio, along with faculty members including Professors Dr Akhtiar Ali Ghumro, Dr Samina Rajpar, Dr Javed Ahmed Ujjan, Dr Shahida Ameer Chandio, Dr Firdous Bhugti and Dr Sahib Oad, attended the session.
