KARACHI: Acting on strict directives from the senior superintendent of police Korangi and the SSP Landhi, Landhi police carried out a major operation on 27 January 2026 and found an illegal gutka and mawa factory in Landhi, Korangi district.
According to police, the action was led by the SHO of Landhi, who intensified operations against sellers of gutka and mawa. During a raid outside house number 123 in area 37-B, Landhi No 1, Karachi, police caught the accused red-handed while he was shifting a mawa factory from one location to another. The suspect had remained in hiding from the police and would frequently move the factory to avoid arrest, supplying mawa to shops in the Landhi and Korangi areas.
The arrested accused was identified as Rao Muhammad Talha, son of Deen Muhammad. Police recovered 175 kilograms of hazardous chhalia, 20 packets of prepared mawa, more than 2,000 empty mawa wrappers, one sack of powder residue, two large plastic tubs, one large gallon of chemicals used in making mawa, one sack of lime, white powder used in mawa, wet lime used in preparation, and one sack of tobacco.
A case was registered against the accused at Landhi police station under the Gutka and Mawa Act, bearing FIR number 42/2026, and further investigation was handed over to the investigation officer of Landhi police station.
