DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Pakistan People’s Party MNA and chairman of the National Assembly standing committee on defence, Sardar Fatehullah Mian Khel, said Dera Ismail Khan was once known as “Mini Larkana” and that the party’s ideological workers continued to stand firmly with the PPP.
He said the party’s central leadership had formed a committee, led by Qamar Zaman Kaira, Humayun Khan, Faryal Talpur, Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha and Nayyar Bukhari, to address the grievances of PPP workers in Dera Ismail Khan. He was speaking at a meeting of senior and long-serving party workers and office-bearers at his residence, Mian Khel House, in Dera Ismail Khan.
The meeting was attended by the PPP divisional president, Sardar Qaisar Khan Mian Khel, district president Malik Farhan Afzal Dhap, Sardar Malik Iqbal Eesar, former MPA Mazhar Jamil Alizai, Syed Sajjad Shirazi and a large number of party workers.
Mian Khel said a local-level committee would also be formed in Dera Ismail Khan to resolve workers’ issues in coordination with the central committee. He described party workers as the pride of the PPP and said their sense of deprivation was fully understood. He added that he sat among the people and stood with them.
Responding to allegations made against him by former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, he said those who had joined PTI in Chodwan and other areas belonged to the Ikram Khan Gandapur group and the Maulana group. He claimed that not a single member of the Mian Khel group had joined PTI and that all his companions remained united.
Rejecting accusations from his political opponents, he said he took pride in his modest house and old jeep and had neither committed corruption nor theft. He alleged that his opponents, by contrast, had always been involved in corruption and wrongdoing, and announced that he would soon hold a press conference to respond to them in detail.
