KHAIRPUR: A meeting on the implementation of the Ramadan Ordinance was held under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner of Khairpur, Altaf Ahmed Chachar, who said strict enforcement would be ensured during the holy month to provide relief to the public, with stern action against violators.

Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner said the availability of wheat flour at subsidized rates, along with the prices of essential commodities including vegetables, milk, pulses, rice, meat and fish, would be monitored on a daily basis across the district. He said assistant commissioners, Mukhtiarkars and representatives of the market committee would oversee monitoring to ensure public relief.
He further directed that meat shops operating along roadsides should be shifted to designated meat markets and that cleanliness in meat markets must be ensured. He said proper disposal and timely removal of animal waste should be carried out so that citizens could shop in a clean and healthy environment.
The deputy commissioner said prices of items included in the Ramadan relief package would be enforced one week before the start of Ramadan. During the meeting, traders briefed participants on current flour rates and the functioning of subsidized flour stalls. Traders informed the meeting that subsidized flour stalls had been set up at Chhatti Chowk, Panjhatti and Luqman, where wheat flour was being sold at Rs105 per kilogram.
The meeting was attended by additional deputy commissioner-I Riyaz Sheikh, assistant commissioner Khairpur Arsalan Ahmed Phulpoto, assistant commissioner Kot Diji Darya Khan Chandio, assistant commissioner Kingri Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, assistant commissioner Gambat Syed Arbab Ali, and representatives of the traders’ associations.
