TANDO ALLAHYAR: The deputy commissioner of Tando Allahyar ordered the provision of furniture to a government primary school after a news report highlighted students studying while sitting on the floor.
Action was taken following a report published in Metro Morning about poor conditions at the Ghulam Rasool Arain Primary School in a village of the same name. Deputy Commissioner Noor Mustafa Leghari directed Assistant Commissioner Babar Saleh to ensure that furniture was supplied to the school according to its needs.
Assistant Commissioner Tando Allahyar, along with TEO Education Zulfiqar Khaskheli, visited the village and distributed desks and chairs among the students. Teachers, students and local residents welcomed the move and thanked Metro Morning for highlighting the issue.
Students said they had been forced to sit on the floor in all weather conditions and that two classes were often combined in one room, affecting their studies. They said the provision of furniture had brought relief and improved the learning environment.
