LAKKI MARWAT: A suspended police official, Shahsawar Khan, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Manjiwala Chowk in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday, police confirmed.

The attackers opened indiscriminate fire at a local hotel, leaving Khan critically injured. He was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his wounds. According to police sources, Khan had been suspended from service nearly a year ago but remained active on social media, advocating for better police-public relations and supporting action against militants.
Following the attack, police cordoned off the area, collected forensic evidence, and launched a search operation to trace the perpetrators.
Funeral prayers for Shahsawar Khan were offered with full state honours at Police Lines Lakki Marwat. The ceremony was attended by SP Investigation Murad Khan, SP CTD Fazal Waheed, SDPOs, SHOs, and numerous police officers. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour, while senior officials laid floral wreaths on the coffin and prayed for the elevation of the martyr’s rank and for patience for his family.
Police authorities vowed that Khan’s sacrifice would not go in vain and assured that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice. They reiterated that Lakki Marwat Police remain committed to protecting citizens’ lives and property. Local peace committee members and police officials also expressed condolences and pledged full support to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
