DUBAI: Pakistan’s Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, held a formal meeting with Dr Asif Nazrul, Adviser to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, in Dubai on Monday.
The discussion marked a significant effort to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries in areas affecting both citizens and the wider diaspora. During the meeting, the officials explored opportunities to expand collaboration across multiple sectors, including education, health, tourism, and trade.
Both sides emphasized the importance of creating frameworks that would facilitate knowledge exchange, investment, and sustainable partnerships, particularly in areas that could benefit expatriate communities and strengthen people-to-people ties.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to constructive dialogue and continued engagement with Bangladesh to identify practical avenues for mutual benefit. Dr Nazrul, in turn, underscored the value of fostering collaboration that not only supports economic growth but also enhances the welfare of overseas workers and professionals from both nations.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain regular communication and to initiate joint initiatives aimed at promoting shared interests. Observers noted that such engagements could serve as a foundation for long-term cooperation, reinforcing diplomatic and cultural connections while opening avenues for trade, tourism, and human resource development.
The dialogue in Dubai was seen as a proactive step towards consolidating bilateral relations in a manner that benefits both domestic and expatriate populations. This development comes at a time when regional cooperation in South Asia is increasingly viewed through the lens of mutual development and cross-border economic opportunities, highlighting the significance of such high-level interactions between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
