DADU/SEHWAN: Preparations for the 774th annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Usman Marvandi, widely known as Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, have been finalized ahead of the festival, with authorities expecting over two million devotees to attend.
A high-level meeting chaired by Hyderabad Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi at the Sehwan camp office reviewed security, traffic, health, and utility arrangements. Security measures include deployment of over 5,000 police personnel and 300 Rangers, with citywide CCTV surveillance. Traffic restrictions will be enforced to manage the expected crowds. Authorities were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, rectify technical faults in advance, and maintain emergency medical services with 24/7 availability of staff and medicines.
Cultural events, including Malakhar performances, literary conferences, and music gatherings, are planned as part of the Urs celebrations. Officials also pledged strict action against encroachments, additional CCTV installations, and robust fire safety measures. Following the meeting, officials visited the shrine to inspect preparations on the ground and ensure all arrangements are in place for the massive influx of devotees.
