ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Thursday acknowledged the pivotal role of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector in promoting public health, generating employment, and contributing to overall economic activity.
Speaking to a delegation from the Pharma Bureau in Islamabad, he highlighted the sector’s significance as both a driver of healthcare access and a contributor to the nation’s economic growth.
Discussions covered key policy, regulatory, and economic issues, with particular focus on pricing and availability of medicines, regulatory procedures, investment facilitation, taxation, innovation, and the sector’s export potential.
The delegation emphasized the need for a conducive policy environment that would allow the pharmaceutical industry to expand while meeting domestic and international standards.
Responding to these concerns, Aurangzeb assured the delegation that all proposals and issues raised would be carefully reviewed in coordination with relevant ministries and regulatory authorities.
