JEDDAH: The consul general of Pakistan in Jeddah, Syed Mustafa Rabbani, said resolving the problems faced by the Pakistani community was his foremost responsibility, as he addressed a dinner held in his honour in the Saudi city.

The event was organised by Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), and was attended by office-bearers of the party and members of the Pakistan Investment Forum. Rabbani said Pakistanis should take pride in the fact that, compared with many other countries, issues faced by the community in Saudi Arabia were resolved promptly. He attributed this to the strong friendship, mutual respect and close relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia at all levels.

During the gathering, Akram introduced Sheikh Saeed Ahmed, president of the Muslim League who had travelled from Riyadh, and conveyed congratulations to the consul general on his posting in Jeddah. Rabbani told participants that the doors of the consulate were open to all members of the community without discrimination. He also urged Pakistanis to respect Saudi laws, promote mutual cooperation and support one another, particularly in business matters.

He assured those present that the consulate would continue to provide full support for the welfare and development of the Pakistani community. The dinner was attended by a large number of prominent social and business figures, who later expressed satisfaction with the consul general’s efforts and paid tribute to the services being provided by the consulate under his leadership.

Community members said the event had helped strengthen engagement and cooperation between the newly appointed consul general and Pakistanis living in the region.
