KORANGI: A ten-day Jashn-e-Baharan spring festival was formally inaugurated at Eidgah Ground in Korangi No 3½ under the leadership of Korangi Town chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, with a large public turnout celebrating the arrival of spring.
The opening ceremony was attended by Karachi deputy mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Pakistan Peoples Party Korangi district president Jani Memon as chief guests. The deputy mayor inaugurated the festival by cutting the ribbon and toured various stalls, the flower exhibition and other arrangements. The town chairman later presented him with a traditional Sindhi ajrak.
Addressing the gathering, Muhammad Naeem Sheikh said the festival had been organized to provide healthy recreation for citizens, promote positive activities and highlight the area’s beauty and culture. He said the ten-day event included a flower exhibition, recreational rides for families, special activities for children, food streets and cultural programs.
Salman Abdullah Murad expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and said cleanliness, security, traffic management and other facilities had been ensured so that citizens could enjoy the festival with their families without fear. He described the festival as a welcome initiative, saying such events created a pleasant environment for the public and helped promote social harmony, and praised the efforts of the town administration.
Jani Memon said the PPP leadership believed in providing facilities and happiness to the public, adding that the spring festival was part of that commitment. At the end of the ceremony, guests visited different stalls and appreciated the performance of the organizers.
