SUKKUR: The Sindh provincial minister for food, Makhdoom Mehboobul Zaman, paid a detailed visit to the Continental Biscuits Limited (CBL) facility in Sukkur, where he was briefed on the company’s production processes and quality standards.
During the visit, the minister inspected the production unit, quality control laboratory, packaging section, storage area and other technical departments. He was given a detailed overview of the manufacturing stages, testing of raw materials, hygiene measures and the processing of biscuits in line with international standards.
The company’s management also gave the minister a special video briefing covering the history of Continental Biscuits Limited, its production capacity, quality assurance systems, exports and the use of modern technology. The presentation explained how the company was producing food products in accordance with global standards, using advanced machinery and strict quality control systems to meet food safety requirements.
Mehboobul Zaman praised the production process, hygiene standards and use of modern technology, saying the provision of safe and high-quality food was a top priority of the Sindh government. He said the private sector played a vital role in the growth of the food industry and in creating employment opportunities, and added that the government would encourage industrial units that ensured quality and transparency.
Commending the overall environment, cleanliness and health arrangements at the facility, he said a clean and safe industrial setting was essential for producing quality food, and described Continental Biscuits Limited as a positive example in this regard.
He said the establishment of modern food testing laboratories and stronger coordination with industrial units would further strengthen the province’s food safety system and ensure effective action against substandard and adulterated products. The food secretary, director general of food, other relevant officials and senior management of Continental Biscuits Limited were also present during the visit.
