ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar convened a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss strategies aimed at boosting Pakistan’s economic growth and expanding trade and investment opportunities.
Officials and business representatives gathered to explore ways to strengthen the country’s economic framework and promote the interests of domestic industries and exporters. During the session, Dar emphasized the importance of collaboration with chambers of commerce and industry associations to identify new avenues for trade and enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani businesses in international markets.
Ishaq Dar underlined that supporting exporters and fostering a favorable business environment were central to sustaining economic momentum and attracting foreign investment. Participants discussed a range of measures, including policy reforms, investment facilitation, and initiatives to improve the ease of doing business.
Observers noted that the meeting also highlighted the government’s intent to address structural bottlenecks and streamline procedures to make Pakistan a more attractive destination for both local and foreign investors. Dar encouraged open dialogue between the government and the private sector, stressing that partnership with industry stakeholders was essential for informed decision-making and the formulation of effective economic strategies.
“Our goal is to create an environment where businesses can grow, trade can flourish, and exporters can compete effectively on the global stage,” Deputy Prime Minister said, according to officials present at the meeting. The discussions reflected a broader effort by Pakistan’s leadership to integrate policy planning with the practical needs of the business community.
