QUETTA: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday announced Rs10 billion in financial assistance for security forces operating in Balochistan, reaffirming the province’s support for peace and stability. She made the announcement during a visit to Quetta, attending a ceremony at the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters.

The visit followed coordinated attacks across 12 towns in Balochistan on January 31, which targeted civilians in Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. In response, security forces launched Operation Raddul Fitna 1, eliminating 216 India-sponsored terrorists in a series of coordinated engagements and clearance operations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

However, 36 civilians, including women and children, and 22 security and law enforcement personnel lost their lives during the operations. During her stay, Maryam Nawaz met Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, where she said the financial contribution aimed to bolster security efforts.

“The spirit of the people of Balochistan and their commitment to Pakistan is commendable,” CM Punjab said, adding that Punjab would offer full support in addressing the province’s challenges. “We stand with Balochistan. The elimination of terrorism is possible through national unity, and we want to see peace, stability, and prosperity in the province,” she added.

Earlier, she met Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail at the Governor House to discuss the law and order situation, recent political developments, and matters of mutual interest. Governor Mandokhail highlighted the importance of inter-provincial harmony and the need for stronger ties between federal and provincial governments.
