DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner Dera Division, Daud Khan, has announced that the Girls Cadet College Dera will begin classes in April this year, marking a major step toward providing quality education for girls in the region.
Speaking to the media at his office, he stated that in the first phase, 30 cadets will be admitted, with a 40 percent quota reserved for students from Dera Ismail Khan. He added that advertisements for staff recruitment and procurement of laboratory equipment have already been issued, while necessary furniture has been provided.
Commissioner Khan expressed confidence that the institution will serve as a model college for girls of the region, emphasizing that all appointments will be made strictly on merit. The Commissioner also highlighted the ongoing anti-encroachment operation, noting that it is being conducted in the public interest and will positively impact business activities in the area.
Assistant to Commissioner (Political/Development) Sajjad Baloch was present during the briefing. Commissioner Khan further revealed that the provincial cabinet has approved the establishment of Tehsil Kundi in District Tank. Similarly, the creation of Kanigram Sub-Tehsil and Shaktoi Sub-Tehsil in Upper South Waziristan will soon be implemented.
He emphasized that law enforcement agencies are working in close coordination to maintain peace and order, noting that sustainable development is only possible in a peaceful environment. He added that development projects across Dera Division are progressing rapidly and their benefits are reaching the public.
Referring to polio as a serious menace, he said that the recent anti-polio campaign in Dera Division was successfully completed. He appreciated the efforts of law enforcement agencies, administration, police, and polio officials for their cooperation. He urged the public to monitor development projects closely, assuring that no compromise would be made on transparency or quality in ongoing schemes.
