KARACHI: The Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) and NADRA renewed their agreement on 12 February to accelerate issuance of the Benazir Mazdoor Card, aimed at providing welfare and protection to workers across Sindh.
The ceremony at SESSI Head Office was attended by senior officials from both organisations, including Commissioner SESSI Hadi Bakhsh Kalhoro and Regional Director NADRA Karachi Aamir Ali Khan.
The card, an initiative of Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, will eventually cover workers in the informal sector and ensures proper verification of beneficiaries at SESSI hospitals and dispensaries through NADRA’s system.
Commissioner Kalhoro said the initiative strengthens digitalisation in SESSI, including biometric attendance for staff, and improves healthcare delivery through the Hospital Information Management System.
NADRA officials highlighted that the renewed agreement would resolve previous hurdles in card issuance. Over 150,000 cards have already been distributed, and the project now aims to reach more than 800,000 registered workers in Sindh.
Member Governing Body Muhammad Khan Abro described the Benazir Mazdoor Card as a visionary project launched in 2022 under the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to uplift the working class.
Karachi: Commissioner SESSI Hadi Bakhsh Kalhoro and Regional Director NADRA Karachi Aamir Ali Khan sign the agreement to expand the Benazir Mazdoor Card, with members of the SESSI Governing Body present.
