KARACHI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Sindh general secretary, Sardar Abdul Rahim, expressed deep sorrow over the devastating explosion in Soldier Bazaar that claimed 15 lives and left several others injured. He described the incident as tragic, plunging the entire city into mourning.
In a statement, Rahim offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the early and complete recovery of those injured.
He called for a transparent, impartial, and immediate investigation, demanding strict legal action against those found responsible. He said the facts should be made public to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Rahim also urged authorities to launch a swift crackdown on substandard and illegal gas cylinder refilling points across Karachi and Sindh. He warned that such activities were tantamount to playing with citizens’ lives. He stressed that relevant institutions must fulfil their responsibilities and that negligence would be unacceptable.
He emphasized that protecting citizens’ lives and property is the state’s foremost duty, and any failure could not be tolerated. He called on the Sindh government to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured, and to extend all possible support to affected households.
Rahim warned that the tragedy should not be treated as a routine accident. He said it must serve as a lesson, calling for decisive action against illegal constructions and hazardous business activities to ensure no other family faces similar grief in the future.
