KARACHI: Reham Khan, former wife of PTI’s founder Imran Khan, has pledged to “fight Karachi’s case,” saying the country’s economic revival depends on restoring the city’s role as Pakistan’s commercial engine.
Speaking at the launch of Seen Profit, a new business channel from the ACM Group of Companies, the head of the Pakistan Republican Party said Karachi had been neglected despite generating the highest tax revenues in the country. “If Karachi prospers, Peshawar will prosper too,” she told an audience of business leaders, journalists, and cultural figures.
“When the business community in Karachi cannot function, how can Pakistan develop?” Khan said the country urgently needed a dedicated business channel and expressed confidence that Seen Profit would fill that gap. She called for national unity and promised her party would advocate for citizens’ rights across Pakistan, starting with Karachi.
Addressing young people, ACM Group chairman Farhan Pardesi and director Irfan Pardesi urged them not to lose hope or leave the city. “Karachi is our mother. If a mother falls ill, she is not abandoned,” they said, calling on youth to help rebuild a strong local economy.
ACM Group director Irfan Memon and chief financial officer Faizan Rafiq Pardesi added that the channel aimed to become the voice of Pakistan’s business community and counter prevailing pessimism. “Much good is about to happen in the country,” they said. Sindh government spokesperson Nadir Gabol told the audience that the provincial government valued the business community and recognized its role in economic growth.
