KARACHI: The religious and social leader Haji Muhammad Aslam Chishti Thanvi Malangi has said that Ramadan offers a practical lesson in patience, sacrifice and piety, urging citizens to use the holy month to strengthen unity and pray for national stability.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Chishti said fasting was not merely abstaining from food and drink but a means of refining one’s character, speech and actions. “Ramadan provides an opportunity for self-accountability and for seeking the pleasure of Almighty Allah,” he said.
He called for special prayer gatherings in mosques, seminaries and homes throughout the month, seeking protection for Pakistan from internal and external challenges and praying for peace, progress and stability.
Appealing to religious scholars, community leaders and the public, Chishti urged people to rise above differences and promote harmony in line with the spirit of Ramadan. “This month teaches patience, brotherhood and selflessness,” he said, adding that collective prayers for the welfare of the Muslim world were equally important.
He also asked the nation to remember members of the armed forces and security institutions in their prayers, acknowledging their role in safeguarding the country’s borders.
“May Allah keep Pakistan secure and prosperous, and make it a cradle of peace,” he said.
