KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah convened a cabinet meeting at the CM House on Tuesday to unveil comprehensive measures aimed at modernizing emergency services, improving governance, and enhancing labor protections across the province.
The Sindh cabinet approved a Rs33.7 billion package to upgrade the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the 1122 emergency services. The funding will cover the procurement of 100 fire trucks, drones, and an Early Warning Alert System, representing the largest modernization effort for the province’s emergency response infrastructure to date.
Officials described the initiative as a landmark step toward improving public safety and disaster preparedness. In addition, the cabinet endorsed historic labor protections for women working in agriculture, including guarantees of equal wages, maternity benefits, and formal employment contracts. The reforms reflect Sindh’s commitment to strengthening both civic safety and social equity across the province.
