BARMAL: Militants targeted the Government Middle School Sharif Khan Kot in Tehsil Barmal on Monday, detonating explosives that caused extensive damage to the school’s infrastructure, police said. The blast destroyed two classrooms, washrooms, the main gate, and part of the boundary wall. Nearby houses were also partially damaged. Police have launched a full-scale investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice, describing the assault as a deliberate attempt to disrupt education in a region long affected by militant activity.
Local communities and education authorities expressed concern, emphasizing the need to safeguard schools and ensure uninterrupted learning. Security forces were deployed to secure the site, while initial efforts focused on clearing debris and repairing damaged structures.
The attack adds to a troubling pattern of assaults on educational institutions in South Waziristan, reflecting ongoing tensions in areas previously affected by militancy. Police and local authorities have urged residents to report any suspicious activity, reinforcing their commitment to protecting schools and restoring safety for students, teachers, and the surrounding community.
